Information on batteries and waste electrical equipment
Many of our products are electrical and electronic equipment. Some contain lithium metal batteries (for example button cells) or are delivered with such batteries. We therefore inform you, in accordance with Article 74 of the EU Battery Regulation (EU) 2023/1542, Section 24 of the German Battery Law Implementation Act (BattDG) and Section 18 of the German Electrical and Electronic Equipment Act (ElektroG), about separate collection, return options and the safe handling of waste batteries and waste electrical equipment.

1Batteries and rechargeable batteries
1.1 Separate collection and your duty to return
- Waste batteries must not go into household waste. They must be collected separately from unsorted municipal waste (Article 64 EU Battery Regulation, Section 6 BattDG).
- As an end-user you are legally obliged to return waste batteries. Please hand them in at a collection point or return them to us (section 1.2).
- Batteries that are permanently built into a device are handed in together with the waste device (see section 2).
1.2 Free return
You can return waste portable batteries (batteries and rechargeable batteries of up to 5 kg, for example button cells, AA/AAA batteries and lithium-ion batteries) free of charge, regardless of their chemical composition, brand, origin, size and condition, and without buying a new battery. The return is limited to the quantities that private end-users usually discard.
- Collection points near you: municipal recycling centres and hazardous-waste collections, shops that sell batteries, and the take-back points of producers and distributors. There, waste batteries are collected for re-use, repurposing or recycling. Find the nearest collection point here: collection-point search.
- Return to us: as a distance seller we offer you our own free return option for waste batteries. Write to service@acinfinity.eu; we will tell you the free return route (a return point near you or a return shipment).
1.3 Making batteries last longer
You help to prevent waste when batteries stay in use as long as possible: charge rechargeable batteries as the manufacturer specifies, avoid deep discharge, heat, cold and moisture, store rechargeable batteries partly charged when not in use for a long time, and use rechargeable batteries in devices with replaceable batteries. Before you dispose of a rechargeable battery that still works, check whether it can be used further or for another purpose.
1.4 Safety instructions, in particular for lithium batteries
- Lithium batteries can catch fire when damaged, short-circuited, overheated or exposed to moisture. Tape the terminals before returning them, for example with adhesive tape, or pack each battery separately in a plastic bag.
- Until you return them, store waste batteries dry, cool, away from flammable materials and out of the reach of children. Do not collect them in metal containers or together with other metal parts.
- Do not open, dismantle, pierce or heat batteries, and do not throw them into fire.
- Damaged, swollen or leaking batteries must not be sent by post. Hand them in at a municipal collection point or hazardous-waste collection, if possible in a non-flammable container with sand or in a plastic bag.
- Do not touch leaked battery fluid. In case of contact with skin or eyes, rinse thoroughly with water and seek medical advice.
1.5 Meaning of the symbols
The crossed-out wheeled bin on batteries, their packaging or the accompanying documents means: collect separately, not in household waste (Article 13(4) EU Battery Regulation). The following chemical symbols may appear below the bin (Article 13(5)):
- Cd: the battery contains more than 0.002 % cadmium by weight.
- Pb: the battery contains more than 0.004 % lead by weight.
Older batteries may still show the symbol "Hg" (mercury). New batteries are gradually being labelled with further information such as manufacturer, battery category, date of manufacture, capacity and chemical composition; from 18 February 2027 they will also carry a QR code that leads to information about the battery and to disposal information.
1.6 Why separate collection matters
Batteries contain substances that can harm the environment and health, for example cadmium, lead, nickel, cobalt or lithium, as well as flammable electrolytes. If waste batteries are littered or disposed of with household waste, pollutants can reach soil and water, and lithium batteries can cause fires in refuse vehicles and waste-treatment plants. At the same time, batteries contain valuable raw materials such as iron, zinc, manganese, nickel, cobalt and lithium, which are recovered through separate collection.
2Waste electrical and electronic equipment
2.1 Separate collection
Electrical and electronic equipment marked with the crossed-out wheeled bin does not belong in household waste. You are obliged to hand in waste equipment for collection separate from unsorted municipal waste (Section 10(1) ElektroG). The symbol under Annex 3 ElektroG means: collect separately. A bar below the bin shows that the device was first placed on the market after 13 August 2005.
2.2 Before you hand in a device
- Remove waste batteries that are not enclosed by the device and can be removed without destroying it, and hand them in separately (section 1). Observe the safety instructions for lithium batteries.
- Remove lamps that can be removed without destroying the device and hand them in separately.
- Delete personal data on the device yourself before you hand it in, for example Wi-Fi credentials and app links on controllers, sensors and cameras (factory reset as described in the manual, remove the device from the AC Infinity app). You as the end-user are responsible for this.
2.3 Return options in Germany
- Public collection points: the recycling centres of the cities and districts accept waste equipment from private households free of charge. Find addresses in the collection-point search.
- Retail: retailers with at least 400 m² of sales area for electrical equipment, and food retailers with at least 800 m² of total sales area that offer electrical equipment several times a year or permanently, take back waste equipment free of charge: an equivalent old device when you buy a new one (1:1), and small devices with no external dimension larger than 25 cm even without a purchase (0:1, up to three devices per type).
- Return to us: when you buy a new device from us, we take back an old device of the same type that essentially fulfils the same functions free of charge (1:1); the old device does not have to have been bought from us. Small old devices with no external dimension larger than 25 cm we take back free of charge even without a purchase (0:1, up to three devices per type). Write to service@acinfinity.eu; we will tell you the free return route (a return point near you or a return shipment). When we deliver a new large device with at least one external dimension over 50 cm, for example a large LED grow light or a large fan, or temperature exchange equipment such as an air conditioner or a dehumidifier, we collect the old device from you free of charge on delivery if you tell us when you order.
3Deliveries outside Germany
The EU Battery Regulation applies in all Member States. The duty to collect separately, the meaning of the symbols and the safety instructions therefore apply there as well. Please use the collection points of your country for waste batteries and waste equipment (links below). When you buy a new device, you can also return an equivalent old device to us; write to service@acinfinity.eu and we will tell you the free return route.
